A Day Worth to Remember!!

October 16, 2013 – The English reformers, Hugh Latimer (bishop of Worcester) and Nicholas Ridley (bishop of London) were being burned for their faith, on the stark outside of Balliol College, Oxford, 458 years ago on this day.

According to Foxe’s account, Latimer encouraged his brother young Ridley, saying, “Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.”

Compare to today’s consumer-driven therapeutic individualism, Latimer and Ridley’s martyrdom was meaningful, since they died for Christ with a assured hope, that one day they will be raised in the likeness of their Master’s resurrection!
